The tool involves closed-response statements (Likert-scales), a drawing element, and open-text responses, structured into a postcard format. The 'space science job role' is a way to match individual students' pre- and post- responses whilst maintaining their anonymity.
This tool is implemented both before and after an intervention and measures students' attitudes towards space science in terms of five key areas:
Interest – is space interesting to students?
Relevance – is space important to their own life and to society?
Accessibility – who works in the space industry?
Possible selves – do they think they have the potential to pursue a career in the space industry?
Future aspirations – do they want to pursue a career in the space industry?
